The only juvenile lionfish I've ever seen and he was flirting around the edge of a 1.3 metre long blue Giant Clam. I was using a Nikonos V with a removable closeup kit over a 35mm lens. Light was supplied by twin SB105 strobes. This was the last frame on the roll and was taken on snorkel in Turtle Bay on 3rd Sister, Tongue Reef off Cairns, QLD. Shot is upside down. This Estuary Catfish is attempting to catch a crayfish for lunch, my thoughts exactly, though I thought it best not to fight over it though. Taken in 8-18m deep water about 2km North East of Rottnest Island, WA on 22 January 2005. Camera used is an Olympus C750 with an Olympus PT017 underwater housing. Photocomp January '05 - Novice

My very first sighting of a blue-ringed Octopus. I was amazed with the electrifying blue colour of the rings. I took 20 or so shots and was determined to finally get a shot I was happy with. These tiny tropical shrimps (Periclemenes soror) are found along the NSW coast in summer on the underside of seastars, always changing their colors to suit the coloring of their hosts. Pinkish/purple stars have shrimps as per picture, red seastars have red shrimps etc. Equipment: Nikonos III, 35mm lens with 2:1 (double life-size magnification - not 1:2) extension tube, single flash.
