Red-cheeked Beauty

This photo was taken by Tomas Mitchell in 2009 at Botany Bay, Sydney, Australia with a Sea & Sea 12HD camera. This fish is undescribed. The anglerfish experts think that this is a color variation of the undescribed Gray Anglerfish (photo was posted on this site in April 2009) but we have strong suspicion that this is entirely new species if not Genus of Australian Frogfish. We have never seen this red-cheeked one anywhere on the net and I believe that it has not been seen by anyone, except Dave Harasti when we first found it along the gray one.

Introductory Rust Diving on the Wreck of the MalabarIntroductory Rust Diving on the Wreck of the Malabar
Around 7:00am on Thursday, April 2, 1931, a dense fog suddenly rolled into Long Bay, obscuring the northern headland. On the bridge of MV Malabar, en-route from Melbourne to Sydney, Captain George Leslie recognised the danger and ordered 5 degrees rudder to steer the ship seaward to pass further offshore than his original plan of half a mile.
